I finally got accepted for SSI! Which means - income! Which means paying rent lol. Also going to take driver's ed next month and see if I can drive or not, and if I can, I'm going to buy Shari's car and have my own car (yay!) and plaster it with bumper stickers xD it'll be super awesome! And gonna buy a new computer (I was going to do that anyway on Pell Grant money). And squirrel a bunch away, of course. Whee!

So I'm about exhausted. Haven't touched my computer in days! I got a bunch of cookies done (400-500?) and delivered them all on Christmas Eve to a dozen or so friends in four different counties! All that after spending the night in the ER the night before! And now I'm just tired. And can't find my Monster Ranchers 2 game. I wish I could find it *sigh*. I have a Gali on my Monster Rancher Advance 2 game on my Droid's emulator, but somehow it's just not the same.

Thinking about possibly going back to Lake Havasu for the weekend (Thursday-Sunday) with Azucena, who's driving down anyway and said we could go with. Looking for places to crash though. Not 100% sure I wanna even make the trip; I guess we'll just see what happens in the next few days. I really really miss Matt, I wish he'd get out here. Eventually, I guess...

How was your Christmas?

So I started holiday baking today! I'm very excited about this! I have so many ideas for cookies, both that I've pulled from recipe books and internet sources, and that I've come up with on my own - this will be my first time baking without following recipes to a T, so I'm kind of nervous, but very excited. I only got to make a few batches today, on account of being out of flour. I'm trying to talk my parents into filling the old cat food bucket (it's clean, don't worry) with 30 pounds of flour, but for some reason they're not sure this is a great idea. Sigh. Anyway, today I made delicious meringues - which were gone within an hour! I'm going to have to make mega batches from now on if I want to get any in the gift bags/baskets. I haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to present the cookie-ful gifts - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I wanted to use baskets, because they used to be a quarter or so at thrift stores in Havasu, but I checked at Goodwill here and they're a dollar or more a piece! Come on, really? Oh well. I thought I'd try to do something in the style of all those wonderful food blogs and share today's experience. I didn't actually think of taking pictures until pretty late, so I didn't get all the fancy ingredient shots or anything - next time I will though! But in case you're interested, I'll also share the recipe I used! It was adapted from a recipe in a magazine that was designed for little kids (sweet and simple), but I decided to make it a tad bit more grown up. And delicious. But the chocolate chips are optional; I made a batch without them and they were still yummy.

Recipe and delicious photographs.Collapse )

So today was pretty good. I got the Super Special Awesome Mega Ultra Big 4 Box Set of Awesome! For those who DON'T know, that's 2 DVDs and 5 CDs of a one-time-only show with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. I took Matthew (Karen's 12 year old) to see it in theaters, they broadcasted it the night of the show and it was made of WIN and AWESOME.

I also took my assessment tests for college, only tested into Intermediate Algebra because I forgot so much stuff in the last few years. Going to declare a Chemistry major, and go for a Bachelors in Biochem. Pretty exciting stuff, that.

I just discovered this site: swapacd.com. It looks highly intriguing, I think I'll try it out. I don't know though, because they charge 49¢ to request a CD from someone else. We'll see though.

We have a Netflix subscription now, and Scott Pilgrim came in the mail today. I loved that movie when Peter took me to see it in theater. So much fun.

At the moment, though, I'm playing Dominion online. dominion.isotropic.org - it's amazing. I got the latest expansion, but Shari spilled milk on it just a couple days after I got it, so Mom bought a replacement (even though I told her not to worry about it), so I'm waiting for that now. We also got a copy of Fluxx with a six-card Jewish expansion.

What games do you like?

So, today was relatively productive. I went to the psychiatrist, stopped at the grocery store, ate one of the best sandwiches ever devised, made Christmas cards, watched Fruits Basket, played Super Smash Bros (and we beat Tabuu), did laundry, ate another sandwich, watched Sense and Sensibility (why? Because Alan Rickman was in it, along with Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson and Imelda Staunton, that's why. I'd never actually seen Snape, er, Rickman in a movie other than Harry Potter, so it was quite bizarre.), played a little more Smash Bros, made some more icons, found out I'm meeting Jesse for Chinese tomorrow (yay), and now here I am, getting ready to go to bed. Theoretically speaking, anyway.

You know, it's probably a good thing that I cannot write.

Or else you'd be seeing a Harry Potter/Animorphs crossover fic.

I guess I'll settle for floating it around in my head, because I can't write to save my life!

I guess it's a good thing that even though I downloaded a bunch of text brushes, I've really not used them much thus far. Anyway, I thought I'd share the few I've made so far. I need to find a community as well to share them in, just because I like attention and compliments feedback. Any suggestions?

So, a lovely individual in the holiday_wishes community just gave me six months of paid LJ time! Maybe that will help me get back in to being communicative. I hope so, at least.

I'm going to be making some new icons to celebrate coming back, I think. I have one last usage of Photoshop on this trial - and it's running now. I opened it the other day to see how long I had left on the trial, and it said the trial had expired and I had one use left - and then when I hit quit, it opened the program! I wasn't ready for that, so I've left the computer on or sleeping since so I can still use it. It's not that bad, really, because I do have the GIMP, but I'll always prefer Photoshop. I guess that's why they charge so much for it.

So I saw Harry Potter last night with Jacob, we had a lot of fun. We didn't manage to get any sort of costumes together, but we had plenty of fun looking at the ones who did. One guy dressed as Hedwig, and three girls dressed as Fluffy. I'm thinking of going as Luna Lovegood next year. Or Rita Skeeter. Or a tabby cat with a tag that says "McGonagall". Or... well, there are plenty of possibilities. Anything but the expected - no Harry, no Hermione, no Ron, no Voldemort. Jacob was thinking of going as Malfoy, bleaching his hair and everything. I guess we'll see.

He dyed his hair blue while Mom and I were in San Diego in October. It's entertaining. He told me beforehand he was gonna do it, but Mom was shocked. It was quite amusing.

As for the movie, I really liked it. Someone pointed out that it seemed kind of slow paced, and it did compared to the book, but I'm not sure it would have been better if they'd sped it up. There were some utterly hilarious scenes, and they did heart-wrenching well. Has anybody else seen it yet? Maybe I should make some HP icons. And Animorphs. We'll see. I should also cobble together a new mood theme. Or maybe get one from somebody else, like I did before. We'll see.

What has everyone else been up to in my absence? It has been a while, hasn't it?
